Whether you’re launching a nonprofit, leading a community initiative, volunteering with a local organization, or looking to become a stronger community leader, Cultivate provides practical training to help you increase your impact.

This program is a good fit if you want to…

  • Start or strengthen a community program.

    You have an idea, passion, or existing initiative and want to learn how to design, manage, and sustain a program that responds to your community’s needs.

  • Build or grow a nonprofit, NGO or community-based organization.

    You want practical guidance on leadership, organizational development, fundraising, and creating systems that help your organization grow.

  • Learn how to access resources and partnerships.

    You want to better understand funding, partnerships, and the systems that influence how community organizations receive support.

No prior experience required.

You do not need a degree, nonprofit management experience, or previous leadership training to participate.

 

Many Cultivate participants begin with a passion for their community and a desire to make a difference. The program is designed to provide the foundational knowledge and practical tools needed to lead more effectively.

 

All you need is a desire to strengthen your community through a local initiative, organization, or cause you care about.

Who participates in the training program?

Our learners come from many backgrounds, including:

    People creating solutions within their own communities.

    People launching or growing charitable organizations and community programs.

    People bringing people together to address shared challenges.

  • Volunteers and Supporters

    People who want to contribute more effectively as board members, employees, partners, or advocates.

    People working in diverse cultural contexts who want training that respects local knowledge and community leadership.

To participate, you should:

  • Be a community insider or work closely with community insiders — someone who is part of the community you want to serve and understands its needs, experiences, culture, and strengths.
  • Be a community insider or work closely with community insiders.
  • Be actively involved in or planning a community-focused initiative.
  • Have a willingness to commit approximately five hours per week.
  • Have access to a computer and reliable internet.
  • Be able to understand the course materials in English. If you can understand this website, you have the level of English needed to participate.

Just getting started?

That’s okay. Many participants join Cultivate while they’re still developing an idea or launching a new initiative. You don’t need to have everything figured out. We’ll help you build the knowledge and skills along the way.
