Scholarships & Sponsorships

Making training accessible to community leaders.

We believe that financial circumstances should not prevent committed community leaders from gaining the skills they need to strengthen their organizations and create lasting change in their communities. Cultivate offers scholarships to help make our Empowerment Training Program accessible to leaders who would otherwise be unable to afford the full program fee. Scholarships are limited and depend on available funding. If you need financial assistance, we encourage you to apply and tell us about your situation.

How Scholarships Work

Our scholarship program is designed to help leaders who have a genuine need for financial assistance while ensuring that available funds reach those who will benefit most.

Scholarship decisions take into consideration factors such as:

  • Your financial circumstances
  • The community and context in which you work
  • Your leadership role and the work of your organization
  • Your ability to participate fully in the training
  • The scholarship funds currently available

A scholarship may cover all or part of your program fee. Because our scholarship funds are limited, we cannot guarantee that every applicant will receive a scholarship or that every scholarship will cover the full cost of the program.

What We Ask of Scholarship Recipients

The Empowerment Training Program requires a meaningful commitment of time and participation. Before applying for a scholarship, please make sure you are able to:

  Commit to the training.
Plan to spend approximately 3–5 hours each week working through the courses, practical assignments, and other program activities.

  Participate in group coaching.
Monthly group coaching sessions give you an opportunity to ask questions, learn from other leaders, and apply what you are learning to your own organization.

Have reliable access to a computer and internet.
The program is delivered online, so you will need regular access to a computer and enough internet data to complete the training and participate in coaching sessions. We estimate you will need approximately 1-2 GB of data each month for the program.

  Apply what you learn.
This is practical training. You will use what you learn to develop real tools and strategies for your organization and community.

The Process

  1. Submit your application at any time.
  2. We will review your application and let you know whether scholarship assistance is available.
  3. If scholarship funding is not currently available, we can also help you explore sponsorship as a way to cover your program fee.

Sponsorships

Build a circle of support for your training.

Sometimes a scholarship isn’t available, or a scholarship may cover only part of the program fee. In that situation, you can ask people who believe in you and your work to help sponsor your training. Sponsors might include friends, family members, colleagues, supporters of your organization, churches or community groups, or others who want to invest in your leadership. You don’t have to figure it out alone. Cultivate provides guidance to help you approach potential sponsors and explain why this training matters.

How Sponsorship Works

1. Decide who might support you.
Think about people who know you, believe in your work, or are interested in the community you serve.

2. Share your story.
Explain what you are working toward, why this training is important to you, and how you plan to use what you learn.

3. Invite people to contribute.
Even small contributions can add up. You may be surprised by how many people are willing to help when they understand the difference your work can make.

4. Keep your supporters connected.
We encourage you to thank your sponsors, keep them updated on your progress, and maintain the relationship throughout your training.

The Process
